LIVE UPDATES

8:40 p.m.: With 29 of 159 counties reporting, Brian Kemp currently holds the lead with just under 60 percent of the vote to Abrams' 40 percent, and Ted Metz is reporting under 1 percent.

8:30 p.m.: Sen. David Perdue rallies supporters for Brian Kemp during the Republican's watch party in Athens.

8:15 p.m.: Faye Seagraves of Daniesville waits for early results at the Kemp party in Athens.

She voted this year to support all GOP candidates on the ballot.

She says building the wall and doing away with sanctuary cities are key issues for her, but she she wishes there was more unity between Democrats and Republicans.

8:10 p.m.: The Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law won its lawsuit to extend voting hours in three polling locations in Fulton County. The order kept the polling places open for an additional hour until 9 p.m. at Pittman Park Recreation Center and an additional two hours until 10 p.m. at the Archer and Booker T. Washington polling places on the campus of Morehouse College.

7:55 p.m.: People waiting at the Stacey Abrams watch party at Hyatt Regency on Peachtree Street in Atlanta will not be allowed inside until 8:30 p.m.

7:38 p.m.: The screens are live and we are underway at Brian Kemp's election night party at the Classic center in Athens.

7:15 p.m.: From the Brian Kemp watch party in Athens:

Susan and Francisco Cruz of Athens are at the watch party to support Brian Kemp. They say "Conservative Republicans care about America first."

They went to the polls with securing the border as the #1 issue.

7 p.m.: Polls are closed in most parts of the state, but in Gwinnett County hours have been extended.

The Annistown Elementary School precinct has extended voting hours to 9:25 p.m. after reports of long lines and some voters having to cast paper ballots.

Two other locations in Gwinnett will remain open after 7 p.m. Anderson-Livesey Elementary will close at 7:30 p.m. and Harbins Elementary will close at 7:14 p.m.
