Each year, Garden and Gun magazine celebrates the best food, crafts and creations with the Made in the South awards. "On Second Thought" heard from two Georgia makers the magazine highlighted, Megan Fowler of Brown Parcel Press and Skylar Morgan of Skylar Morgan Furniture + Design.

 

Fowler and Morgan discussed how they turned their passion projects into successful handcrafting careers.

 "On Second Thought" host Virginia Prescott speaks with Megan Fowler and Skylar Morgan.

Morgan said handmade work stands out because it reflects the artists' vision. He said he can always tell when individual craftsmen put their hands on a piece. His Arciform sofa, a loveseat inspired by his wife's love of conversation, won the magazine's best home item.

 

Fowler's Sunny Side 2019 calendar, which was a runner-up in the magazine's craft section, is a reflection of the farmland around her. Her printing work is often inspired by the vegetables she and her family grow on their farm.
