Athlete Turned Advocate: Chris Draft Tackles Cancer In Minority Communities

Just about everyone knows someone who is or has been affected by cancer.
According to the American Cancer Society, this year over 1.7 million new cases of cancer will be diagnosed in the United States.
People of color, particularly African Americans, are more likely to die from cancer when compared to any other ethnic group in the U.S.
On Saturday, the Morehouse School of Medicine will host the event 'Progress and Promise Against Cancer,' a free and open community conversation about cancer research and education.
Former Atlanta Falcons player Chris Draft, who will take part in the event, lost his wife after a battle with lung cancer, just a month after they were married.
He recently sat down with GPB's Leah Fleming to talk about his wife's story and how it spurred him to form the advovacy group Team Draft.
Leah also speaks with Brian Rivers, director of the Cancer Health Equity Institute at Morehouse School of Medicine.
