As the month of May closes out, there is plenty to do in Savannah to usher in the next phase of summer. Rachael Flora, editor of Connect Savannahand Bill Dawers, of Savannah Morning News and music blog Hissing Lawns, have your guide.

Rachael and Bill talk Savannah weekend events.

Rachael's picks:

  • Exercise your autonomy with a "My Body, My Practice" yoga class at Revolution Yoga on Friday.  The class is focused on having power to choose what to do with your own body through yoga. The event runs from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m. Admission is donation-based, minimum $10; proceeds will go to the local Planned Parenthood chapter.
  • Have your pizza and eat it, too, at Big Bon Bodega for Big Bon Summer Pizza Fridays, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. The event will run weekly throughout the summer.
  • Enjoy brunch along with a little jazz by the Equinox Orchestra at the Emporium Kitchen & Wine Market's Saturday Jazz Brunch. Always with a taste of their home state of Louisiana, the jazz and the food will be appetizing.
  • Revisit tunes of The Smiths at the Jinx via a show by The Ordinary Boys, a tribute band to The Smiths and Morissey. This show will highlight a specific album in its entirety in celebration of its 33rd anniversary: "The Queen Is Dead." Doors open at 9 p.m. Saturday; the music starts at 10 p.m.; tickets are $10.
  • Honor the late musician Ben Tucker at the 6th Annual Ben Tucker Memorial Jazz Concert. Sponsored by nonprofit Friends of Ben Tucker, the event honors Tucker, who passed in 2013. Tucker was a jazz legend loved in Savannah and abroad, as he did a lot not only for music and jazz and the community, but also in terms of education, mentoring and civil rights. The event runs 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Wright Square; admission is free.

Bill's picks:

  • Savor coffee and folk music at An Evening with Nicholas Williams and Isaac Smith tonight at The Sentient Bean. Two veteran folk songwriters will share songs and stories, and it's an opportunity to sit back, relax and listen. It starts at 8 p.m.; tickets are $10 at the door.
  • Spend Saturday having Bourbon, BBQ and Blues at the Ghost Coast Distillery. Ghost Coast is set to release another new, limited edition spirit. Ben Keiser Band plays blues from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. Cranford Hollow will bring the evening blues from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Enjoy BowTie BBQ Food Truck from 12 to 7 p.m.
  • Enjoy music by the Blackfoot Gypsies with The Talismen on Saturday. Hosted by Barrelhouse South, the music runs from 8 p.m. to 3 a.m.
