On this edition of Political Rewind, President Trump is stepping up his battle to stop the flow of undocumented immigrants across the southern border. The president said he will enact tariffs against Mexico until officials there begin turning back migrants headed to the United States.

After the presidents announcement, acting Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney and acting Secretary of Homeland Security Kevin McAleenan provided more details on how the White House hopes to coerce the Mexican government into helping with the flow of migrants from South America.

"Effective June 10th, we will impose a 5 percent tariff on every single good coming into the United States from Mexico. That means across the border, in the air, by sea -- every single good, 5 percent tariff, effective June 10th," Mulvaney told reporters Thursday.

We discuss how this plan will be implemented and talk about the lack of measurable standards for cooperation and other details that seem to be unclear.
