Georgia Tech men's basketball team has been banned from 2019-20 post season play. The NCAA Committee on Infractions announced Thursday.

The decisions came after the committee found Georgia Tech allowed two boosters to interact with student athletes, which later led to violations.

“The university permitted these outside individuals to interact with their student-athletes,” the committee said in a press release.

According to the NCAA, a booster took prospects and current student athletes to strip clubs, offered them free meals at a lounge and provided more than $2,000 worth of clothes, shoes, lodging, meals and transportation.

Tech was also placed on four years of probation.

As part of the penalties, the university must vacate all records in which the athletes in question participated. Tech was also fined $5,000 and 2% of the men’s basketball budget.

The team was also hit in the recruiting department as it was placed on an eight week ban for unofficial visits and recruiting communications.

The university has yet to respond to our request for comment.
