Spooky Ballet, Art Openings, More Savannah Weekend Events Oct. 17-20

There's plenty to do in Savannah this fall weekend, from art and music to a spooky ballet. Zach Dennis of Do Savannah and Bevin Valentine Jalbert of Paprika Southern have some tips.Zach and Bevin share their weekend tips.
Bevin's picks:
- Get super relaxed at the first in Hygge's Soundbath series. This month's focuses on meditation and breath techniques, along with sound healing, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday. There are further events in November and December.
- Check out some art at the opening of Peep Show by Angela Burson, on display at Location Gallery at Austin Hill realty. She pairs realistic subject matter with flat, repetitive patterns, with gallery profits benefitting Girls on the Run. The opening reception is 5 to 8 p.m. Friday.
- Make some groovy decor at Peculiar Abode's macramé wall hanging workshop, at Sip Shop Make. The class for all skill levels will teach the basic knot and include supplies and snacks, from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.
- Take the whole family to the grand opening of the new Terra Cotta Gallery at the Savannah African Art Museum. The day's festivities include storytelling, indigo dying, jewelry and instrument making and more, from noon to 4:30 p.m. Saturday.
Zach's picks:
- Have a colorful evening at Flora: a collection of large scale mixed media works by José Ray. The bright, colorful works explore floral themes made with a range of materials. The opening reception is 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, with the art on display at Sulfur Studios Thursday through Saturday.
- Jam out locally as Lulu the Giant plays at Victory North. The jazzy, soul-influenced trio is the first local act to headline Savannah's newest music venue, beginning at 8 p.m. Friday. Tickets are $21.
- Get into the Halloween spirit as the Savannah Ballet Theatre tells the tale of Jack the Ripper through dance. The performance focuses on the lives of the women the famous killer murdered. Shows are Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the Cultural Arts Center; tickets are $25.
