Georgia’s foster care system is in crisis with the number of kids in state custody rising significantly. To getter a better understanding of the strain on the system, On Second Thought spoke with Samantha Max, former health reporter for The Telegraph in Macon and current reporter for Nashville Public Radio. Also joining the conversation is foster parent and founder of Never Too Late group home, Dr. John DeGarmo.

Before it was home to Georgia State University football, or even the Atlanta Braves, Summerhill was one of the oldest predominantly African-American neighborhoods in Atlanta. GSU historian Dr. Marni Davis shares the complex highs and lows of this storied neighborhood.

A 2015 Andrew W. Mellon Foundation study found that about 72% of museum staff members in the United States are white. A new degree program through the Atlanta University Center is trying to change that. Director of the AUC Collective for Art History and Curatorial Studies, Cheryl Finley shares her experience as an African American art curator and how she plans to make the field more inclusive.
