The holiday season is in full swing, with plenty of ways to celebrate this weekend. Shannon Lowery of Visit Savannah and Zach Dennis of Do Savannah have your guide.Shannon and Zach talk weekend events.

Zach's picks:

  • Have a heavy night as death metal legends Obituary play Victory North. They will perform their classic debut album "Slowly We Rot," with False Prophet and Extinction AD opening at 7:45 p.m. Friday; tickets are $26.
  • Shop for local art at the first-ever Art Market at Starland Yard, hosted by Cedar House Gallery. Pick up holiday gifts or something for yourself while enjoying the tasty food options from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday.
  • Keep shopping local at the annual Craft Scout Holiday Market in the American Legion Ballroom. Locally-made goods from jewelry to paper goods to bath and body products will be for sale from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Shannon's picks:

  • Dive into a literary classic at the Jepson Center with Summon the Sea. The exhibit features the work of six contemporary artists responding to, challenging and celebrating Moby Dick, including a massive white whale. Exhibit runs through Feb. 16.
  • Celebrate the season with a whole host of public events downtown, all part of the Savannah Holly Days lineup of events. This weekend includes Christmas on the River, a Holiday Open House and Christmas for Kids in City Market, the annual Lighted Christmas Parade and more. The full schedule of events is here.
  • Enjoy a holiday tradition with the Savannah Ballet Theatre's production of The Nutcracker. This year's production of the classic ballet includes a live orchestra and some local flair. Performances are at 2 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday.
  • Get festive at the beach with Tybee Island's Christmas celebrations this weekend. First up is the Tybee Island Christmas Parade, happening at night for the first time, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Friday and culminating in a tree lighting. Then comes the annual Lighted Boat Parade, which departs the Crab Shack around 7:30 p.m. Sunday.
