"This is a historic moment for Truist – a financial services organization created from two companies with shared values and a deep commitment to building a better future for our clients and communities," said Truist Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Kelly S. King in a statement.
However, the company’s new name was met with mixed reviews on social media.

SunTrust Park, home of the Braves, is expected to also face a name change in light of the merger. The company said one of its primary goals is “building and sustaining its communities.”
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports it could take up to two years for the old brand names to be replaced on larger properties such as the baseball park, as well as branches, websites and other services. Truist vows to spend more than $100 million on philanthropy in Georgia and North Carolina.
