The Kendeda Building

Amid the buzz of the Nov. 20 Democratic debate in Georgia, you may have missed that former Pres. Barack Obama was in town for another event.  He delivered the keynote address at the GreenBuild International Conference in Atlanta.

"Morning Edition" host Leah Fleming speaks with Shan Arora and Peter Dykstra.

To learn about the methods discussed at the conference, On Second Thought dove deeper into making construction more eco-friendly.

Georgia Tech’s Kendeda Building for Innovative Sustainable Design is considered a "living" building. Its director, Shan Arora, explained it was created to be water positive, energy positive, regenerative and made with the healthiest material possible, even in the construction project.

Editor of Environmental Health News, Peter Dykstra, spoke about current policy debates over environmental issues.

We closed out the segment with elementary school kids from High Meadows School in Roswell.  They collaborated with their music teachers to write a new song called Breakdown as a part of a climate action project.
