It's another busy weekend in Savannah. Zach Dennis of Do Savannah and Mia Mance of G100 have your guide.Zach and Mia talk weekend events.

Mia's picks

  • Celebrate freedom at Savannah State's Freedom Day observances, marking the day President Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation. The university's first president, Richard R. Wright Sr., is considered the architect of the day. The festivities include a wreath laying at 10 a.m. Friday on Savannah State's campus and a community celebration at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Coastal Georgia Center.
  • Delight the kids with a chance to see and explore trucks, tractors and more at Touch-A-Truck. The event is hosted by the Junior League and helps support their work for women and children in the community. It's at Islands High School from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday; $5 per person, $20 per family.
  • Eat your fill at the grand opening of Chazito's newest location, 787 in the Starland District. The evening will feature drink specials by Ghost Coast Distillery benefitting the Puerto Rico earthquake relief fund, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
  • Get ready for the big game on Sunday. First up, spend some time outdoors at the Okatie Ale House 5K at 10 a.m. Then watch the game at Saddle Bags beginning at 5 p.m., with drink specials and live music.

Zach's picks:

  • Take a photographic journey with photographer Stephen Morton at Ships of the Sea Museum. A photojournalist in the region, Morton has put together a show of images more abstract than you'll see from him in the paper. The opening reception is 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.
  • Prep for the Oscars as Cinema Savannah presents the Oscar shorts. At the Cultural Arts Center, they'll screen the short film nominees in live-action, animation and documentary from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.
