Art Openings, Improv, More Savannah Weekend Events March 5-8

It's a jam-packed weekend in Savannah, with plenty of art, music and more. Zach Dennis of Do Savannah and Siobhan Egan of Paprika Southern will help you navigate it.Siobhan Egan and Zach Dennis talk weekend events.
Siobhan's picks:
- Learn a new skill with two workshops at Abode Studios. On Thursday, learn the fun and useful art of soap-making from 6:30 to 8 p.m; $45. Then on Saturday, take a beginner course in weaving with Daughter Handwovens from 1 to 4 p.m; $60.
- Celebrate one year of the Edition Shop on Broughton with festivities all weekend. Enjoy music, mimosas, a flower truck and more from Friday through Sunday.
- Explore fiber art at the opening of Marked: Rusted Wovens, an exhibit by Jennifer Moss at the Cultural Arts Center. The receoption is 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, while the exhibit runs through April 3.
- See art for a cause at Sip: A Ceramic Cup Show. A percentage of sales from this juried exhibition goes to Emmaus House to help feed Savannah's hungry. The opening reception is 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Whitefield Center.
- Enjoy good stories at Long Story Short, Front Porch Improv's evening of storytelling. They promise no script and no lies beginning at 10 p.m. Saturday at their new Victory Drive location; $10.

- Discover new music at the Savannah Stopover Music Festival, this year celebrating its tenth anniversary. Bands play at venues all around downtown Thursday through Saturday. The full schedule and tickets are available here.
- Take in beautiful art at Collecting Impressionism: Telfair's Modern Vision. The exhibit celebrates Telfair art advisor Gari Melchers and his work bringing impressionist and avant-garde art to Savannah. It opens Friday and runs through August 16.
- Celebrate local art at the reception for Tamara Garvey's show "Let's all pause for a moment and take a good look," currently on view at Starland Cafe. It features whimsical pen and ink work. The reception runs 6 to 9 p.m. Friday.
