The breakdown

1. As Stacey Abrams' campaign coffers overflow, she warns her supporters not to tune out.

  • Gov. Brian Kemp's campaign has attributed Abrams' fundraising to "far-left radicals" from outside the state, but it's becoming apparent that Kemp's campaign may need to tap resources outside of Georgia as well.
  • Ahead of the midterms, economic issues like inflation promised to be strong talking points for Republicans. However, since Roe v. Wade was struck down, Democrats may have strong motivators for voter turnout.

Mercer's Chris Grant explains the phenomena of Stacey Abrams' ability to fundraise.

2. Biden's approval rating is down to 33%, with two-thirds of Democrats saying they'd prefer someone else in 2024.

  • Biden's low approval among Democrats comes as progressives feel he's not done enough, even if their demands can't be met by the White House.
  • Democrats nationally face headwinds coming from a low presidential approval rating. Abrams has tried to appeal to moderate voters in Georgia by supporting raises for police officers in order to counter claims that she would defund police.

3. In today's January 6th Committee Hearing, topics may include various extremist groups and QAnon.

  • Since the last hearing, former White House Counsel Pat Cipollone testified behind closed doors.
  • In Georgia, a Fulton County judge ruled that Sen. Lindsey Graham must testify in DA Fani Willis' election probe.

GCSU's Claire Sanders on why the January 6th Hearings won't matter to some.

4. Herschel Walker's campaign sees personnel turnover and uncertainty.

  • The Walker campaign continues to find controversy. As the Senate hopeful continues to spark outrage and staffers leave, it's unclear how his campaign will be affected.
  • Capital B's Chauncey Alcorn says Walker's approval among Black voters is under that of Donald Trump's or Brian Kemp's, which bodes poorly for the midterm election.
