The Atlanta Braves beat the New York Mets 5 to 3 on Sunday, completing the sweep of a three-game series and adding to their lead in the National League East.
Georgia natives Dansby Swanson and Matt Olson each homered in all three games in this pivotal series. Olson also drew a bases loaded walk last night, helping Atlanta earn its 100th win of the season.
The Braves had been chasing the Mets nearly all year and now stand two games ahead–and one win away from clinching the division.
Braves Manager Brian Snitker says this is about as exciting and emotional a series as he’s ever been a part of.
“I said Friday when I came to the ballpark, I told my wife, I said, ‘Well, playoff’s starting today. This whole weekend felt like a playoff weekend and then some, quite honestly.’”
The Braves now hit the road to play their last three regular season games against the Miami Marlins, a team they’ve faced 16 times this year and beaten a dozen.
