Outwit. Outplay. Outlast.
That’s how you win $1 million and become the Sole Survivor.
Season 44 of Survivor will kick off on Mar. 1 as 18 new castaways will be stranded and put to the ultimate test of their physical and mental abilities in the islands of Fiji.
But if you need something to hold you over until the premiere, we got you.
This season will feature two castaways from the Peach State. Will they have what it takes to survive?
See for yourself:
Meet Carson Garrett
Carson Garrett is 20 years old and currently lives in Atlanta, but he is originally from Rome, Georgia. He is a NASA engineering student, aka “rocket scientist,” who describes himself as “Multifaceted, exuberant and innovative.”
And although Survivor has been on longer than he’s been alive, he wants people to know that he is smart and serious about the competition.
“I want to be part of Survivor to win the game I know and love and prove that age does not define success. As someone who has obsessively studied the evolution of game theory within Survivor, I cannot wait to test myself and see how my unique thought process and strategic background fare on a game built upon the idea of adaptability. While I believe that winning Survivor requires some luck, I think that my intuition and discernment will lead me down a path to victory,” Garrett said.
If Garrett wins, he will be the youngest Sole Survivor. So, why does he think he has what it takes?
“I will be the Sole Survivor because of my natural ability to push myself to succeed. No matter what challenge I am presented with, I never give up and always prepare to the best of my ability. I plan to use my emotional intelligence, logical mind and kindness to bring home the million-dollar check and become the youngest Survivor winner in the process,” he said.
Other than studying the ins and outs of the game, Garrett also loves 3D printing, photography and board games, but despises mosquitoes and “people who radiate negative vibes.”
Next up, the second castaway from Georgia.
Meet Josh Wilder
Josh Wilder is originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, but he currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia. He’s 34 and he’s a Surgical Podiatrist who describes himself as “Adventurous, charismatic and ambitious.”
When asked why he wants to be a part of the competition show, he said, “I want to be a part of Survivor to prove to myself, and any other little gay Black boy or girl that you can do anything you put your mind to.”
His hobbies include traveling, taking care of his plants at home and doing obstacle course races. He dislikes people who are just plain rude.
In addition to being fit and successful, Josh also knows a thing or two about life’s curveballs, which could help him while on the island.
“I wasn’t supposed to live past age 5. I survived a kidney transplant. I beat cancer. I grew up a gay Black man in Ohio,” he said. “I will be the Sole Survivor because adversity and survival have been my life.”
Above all, Wilder relies on positivity. “[Positivity] is required to outlast all the trials and tribulations of the game,” he said.
See Carson and Josh on March 1 at 8 p.m. during a special two-hour episode on CBS.
