MICHEL MARTIN, HOST:

Good morning. I'm Michel Martin. This is the time of year when it's great to look up, at least if you're in the Northern Hemisphere. That's because it's time for the Perseid meteor shower. Now through late August, if you're in the right place and it's dark enough, you can see 60 to 80 stars flying through the sky every hour during its peak. That's one meteor per minute. You'll need no special equipment, just a dark pre-dawn sky where you might even see fireball-like streaks in the sky - nature's fireworks. It's MORNING EDITION.
