Day 18 at the Capitol was short — and sweet.

Lawmakers in the House debated a bill that would make cornbread the official state bread .

The bill passed 155 to 3 after a debate about cornbread versus biscuits.

The House unanimously approved another delicious measure that would make the fourth Friday in November National Sugarcane Syrup Day.

Another bill to make the Southeast Georgia Soap Box Derby the official soapbox derby of Georgia also cleared the House 155 to 1.

The Senate did not vote on any bills, but held its first special Committee on Investigations meeting.

The nine-member panel will investigate misconduct allegations against Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis. Today, it laid out its goals and procedures.

Senators said some documents and witness testimony in the investigation could be confidential.
