The roof of Mary Mac’s Tea Room partially collapsed overnight prompting a temporary closure of the famed Southern eatery.

Debris was cleared from Ponce de Leon Avenue before rush hour and Georgia Power was on scene repairing a broken line and turning off power to the restaurant.

The cause of the collapse is under investigation, but occurred during heavy rain moving through the city.

Mary Mac’s has been an institution in Midtown for more than 75 years.
