Access from North Druid Hills Road to Buford Highway and I-85 is taking a major turn this week as the Peachtree Creek bridge closes on Friday, April 26, for 90 days, according to the Georgia Department of Transportation.

The bridge replacement is part of the larger Interstate 85 at SR 42/North Druid Hills Road interchange improvement project now underway.

GDOT has placed electronic signs in the area to indicate the five-mile detour route. Drivers will still have access from I-85’s Exit 89 and properties adjacent to the bridge work zone during the closure.

GDOT has been warning drivers for months about the upcoming interchange improvements and bridge repair.

In February, GDOT began preliminary work on the bridge over Peachtree Creek. The full roadway closure between Buford Highway and West Druid Hills Drive east of I-85 will expedite this demolition and reconstruction of the 62-year-old bridge, according to GDOT.

For more information about the project, GDOT suggests checking their websitesocial media, or calling the hotline at 770-609-7809.
