On July 8, the River Remedy Brewing Company, a craft brewery based in Rome, Ga., announced that it had won two gold medals at the U.S. Open Beer Championship, one of the world's most popular beer competitions.

The U.S. Open Beer Championship, held in Oxford, Ohio, this year, is the third-largest beer brewing competition in the U.S. and is known for judging more beers than any other competition globally, according to a press release.

An average of 600 breweries submit entries for their beer to the competition each year, dividing the beers into 170 categories.

After the beers arrived in Oxford between May 15 and May 26, judges spent a few weekends blind tasting and judging six to 12 beers while noting their thoughts and scores.

The River Remedy Brewing Company competed against some of the country's best breweries, from Maui to Maine, to secure gold medals in two categories.

The brewery won in the American Specialty Wheat Beer category for its Oostanaula Great White Ale, known for its citrusy flavor, and the German Altbier category for its Sabrewtage Altbier, which, as stated on its website, has "multigrain bread notes with a hint of bright citrus and molasses-y sweetness to round it out."

"We are incredibly honored and thrilled to receive these awards," brewmaster Justin Shepherd said. "It's a testament to the hard work and dedication of our entire team. We're especially grateful to our community and all the local supporters of craft beer."

The newest accolades bring the brewery 13 awards for their beer.

River Remedy Brewing Company is committed to its "passion for brewing and innovation" of its award-winning beers to customers and community engagement through giving back with quarterly local charity partnerships.

The brewery shared that it is planning a celebratory event to honor its recent achievements, which it will announce to the public soon.

"We invite everyone to visit the brewery and enjoy a pint of our award-winning beers."
