Which 2024 Paris Olympic athletes on team USA are from Georgia? Here’s what to know

The 2024 Paris Olympics have started with the exception of the opening ceremonies on July 26 and we are representing Team USA all the way.

While there are hundreds of athletes from all over the world competing in this year’s Olympics, some of them are from towns closer than you think. And 21 of them are actually from the Peach State.

In fact, over the years, Georgia athletes have brought in 18 gold medals for Team USA since the games started, which makes Georgia the 12th state with the most gold medals overall.

Here’s what we know about the 21 Georgia athletes competing for team USA:

Caleb Wiley

Age: 19

From: Atlanta, Georgia

Caleb Wiley is a defender on the Atlanta United soccer team and will be in this year’s 2024 Paris Olympics representing Team USA. This will be Wiley’s first Olympics.

Walker Zimmerman

Age: 31

From: Lawrenceville, Georgia

Zimmerman plays for a soccer team in Nashville, South Carolina. Although Zimmerman played in the 2016 Olympic games, 2024 will be his official year playing, as the 2016 team didn’t qualify.

Emma Hunt

Age: 21

From: Woodstock, Georgia

Hunt will make her Olympic debut at this year’s games. She is also the first U.S. Olympian to qualify for speed climbing in the 2024 Olympics.

Vincent Hancock

Age: 35

From: Eatonton, Georgia

Hancock is a competitive shooter and is a three-time Olympic gold medalist, making him the most decorated Olympian in his sport.

Katelyn Abeln

Age: 23

From: Douglasville, Georgia

Katelyn Abeln is a competitive shooter for team USA and this year is her first Olympic games.

Chris Bailey

Age: 24

From: Atlanta, Georgia

Chris Bailey is competing for team USA in track and field events. This is Bailey’s first appearance in the Olympics for an individual event.

Graham Blanks

Age: 22

From: Athens, Georgia

Blanks is an American long-distance runner for team USA. He is no stranger to winning gold in other competitions, but this is his first time at the Olympics.

Christian Coleman

Age: 28

From: Atlanta, Georgia

Coleman is a track and field sprinter for team USA. He competed in the relay in the 2016 Olympic games, but did not receive a medal.

Brooks Curry

Age: 23

From: Dunwoody, Georgia

Brooks Curry is an Olympic gold-medalist swimmer for team USA. This is Curry’s second time at the Olympics, as he won gold in 2020 for the 4x100 meter freestyle relay.

Anthony Edwards

Age: 22

From: Atlanta, Georgia

He’s nicknamed “Ant-Man” or “Ant” and he’s a shooting guard on team USA’s basketball team. He also plays professional basketball for the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Chris Eubanks

Age: 28

From: Atlanta, Georgia

Eubanks will be competing as a tennis player for team USA. He played college tennis for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Year twice.

Dearica Hamby

Age: 30

From: Marietta, Georgia

Dearica Hamby is a forward for the USA basketball team. She plays professionally for the Los Angeles Sparks and has won Woman of the Year in the WNBA twice (2019 and 2020).

Will Hinton

Age: 28

From: Dacula, Georgia

Will Hinton is an American shooter and is competing in Men’s Trap for the 2024 Olympic games. This is his first Olympic games, but he has won several medals in other competitions.

Jasmine Jones 

Age: 22

From: Atlanta, Georgia

Jasmine Jones is competing in her first Olympics this year as a track and field athlete. In 2019, Jones was named the Georgia female track and field athlete of the year.

Henry Leverett

Age: 23

From: Bainbridge, Georgia

Leverett is an American shooter competing in the men’s rapid fire pistol event at the 2024 Olympics. Leverett also competed in the 2020 Olympic games, but did not receive any medals.

Brody Malone 

Age: 24

From: Summerville, Georgia

Malone is an American gymnast and this will be his second Olympic games. He is a seven time NCAA champion and in 2021, he won the U.S. all-around and vault competition.

Hampton Morris 

Age: 20

From: Marietta, Georgia

Morris is a team USA weightlifter in the 2024 Paris Olympic games. This is his first Olympic competition, but Morris is a three-time world championship medalist.

Daniel Roberts 

Age: 26

From: Hampton, Georgia

Roberts is an American sprinter and hurdler competing in the 2024 Paris Olympics. He is a two-time national champion, but this is his Olympic debut.

Emily Sonnett 

Age: 30

From: Marietta, Georgia

Emily Sonnett is an American soccer player for team USA. She plays center back, full back and defensive midfielder positions on the field and won bronze at the 2020 summer Olympics.

Carson Tyler

Age: 20

From: Moultrie, Georgia

Carson Tyler is an American diver competing in the springboard and platform diving events for the Olympics. He is the third American to qualify for both events and he has won three NCAA championships.

Allie Wilson

Age: 28

From: Atlanta, Georgia

Wilson is an American middle-distance runner and this is her first time at the Olympic games. She was the 2024 USA Indoor Track and Field Championships winner in the 800 meter event.
