NOAA forecast: Hurricane Debby could dump up to 30 inches of rain along the coastlines of Georgia and South Carolina through Friday, Aug. 9, 2024

At least 40,000 homes and businesses are without power in South Georgia as Tropical Storm Debby brings the area strong winds.

Still, the storm's greatest impacts are expected in coming days when it could dump 16 to 20 inches of rain, bringing historic flooding.

Savannah officials are especially concerned about Debby because the area's already saturated with above-average July rain totals.
