Delta Air Lines reported that the wing of one of its Airbus A350 aircraft fleet made contact with an Endeavor Air CRJ-900 at approximately 10 a.m. Tuesday at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.

No injuries have been reported.

A few minutes after 10 a.m., passengers on board the regional jet headed for LaFayette, La., reported jarring movement and loud banging as the giant Airbus bound for Tokyo collided with the smaller plane's tail.

Jason Adams, a meteorologist for the ABC-affiliated WTFS-TV in Tampa, Fla., was on the plane preparing to take off to Louisiana.

"Well, that was terrifying," he posted. "Taxiing out for the flight from Atlanta to Louisiana and another plane appears to have clipped the back of our plane. Very jarring, metal scraping sounds then loud bangs. We’re fine. No fire or smoke. Awaiting @Deltainstructions."

The company's statement read, "At approximately 10:07 a.m., the wing of an Airbus A350 taxiing out as DL295 from Atlanta to Tokyo-Haneda made contact with the tail of an Endeavor Air CRJ-900, DL5526 to LaFayette, Louisiana, on an adjacent taxiway, resulting in damage to the tail of the regional jet and the wing of the A350. "

Customers were transported back to the terminal to be placed on alternate flights.

There were 221 customers on DL295 and 56 customers on DL5526.

"At this time, no additional operational adjustments are expected," Delta's website said.

Delta is cooperating with the NTSB and other authorities on this incident.

The Federal Aviation Administration issued the following statement:
