UPDATES: Winter Storm Warning in effect across much of Georgia, snow accumulations possible

The Governor has declared a statewide state of emergency ahead of the impending freezing temperatures and winter weather expected to impact Georgia over the next few days.
The National Weather Service in Peachtree City, has issued a Hazard Weather Outlook and Winter Storm Watch for large portions of Georgia.
it is becoming increasingly likely that a winter storm will impact north and central Georgia Tuesday through early Wednesday.
Uncertainty remains regarding exact accumulations and northern extent of snowfall, but snow is likely to be the dominant precipitation type. A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for areas along and south of the I-20/I-85 interchange for the potential for as much as 1-2" of snow accumulation.
WHAT: Periods of snow that could be moderate to heavy at times. Total snow accumulations up to two inches possible. Light freezing rain and sleet will be possible in portions of east central Georgia early Wednesday morning. Ice accumulations less than 0.1 inch are possible.
WHERE: Portions of central, east central, north central, northeast, northwest, southeast, and west central Georgia.
WHEN: From Tuesday morning through Wednesday morning.
IMPACTS: Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning commutes.
Please plan accordingly if you will be outdoors. Prolonged exposure to below-freezing temperatures can cause frostbite. Dress in layers including a hat, face mask, and gloves if you must go outside.
Check on vulnerable people to make sure they have adequately warm shelter indoors.
Bring pets inside.
To prevent water pipes from freezing, wrap or drain or allow them to drip slowly.
