Apple isn't acknowledging wrongdoing in the settlement, which still must be approved by a U.S. District judge. Lawyers in the case have proposed scheduling a Feb. 14 court hearing to review the terms.

Regulators say the companies hurt hundreds of thousands of users of the credit card, which Apple launched in 2019.

The Santa Barbara County, Calif., Sheriff’s Office said it arrested two suspects after they were tracked down using the device that the victim mailed to herself. They face several felony charges.

The federal government accuses Apple of using its monopoly power to stomp out competitors and keep customers from switching phones.
