Cardiff-based Yolk Recruitment Ltd. is taking its more than 50 employees on an all-expenses-paid vacation to the island of Tenerife in April. The four-day trip will reportedly cost more than $135,515.
Authorities on the Canary Islands declared an eruption that started in September officially finished following 10 days of no lava flows, seismic activity or significant sulfur dioxide emissions.
The Cumbre Vieja volcano has damaged hundreds of homes and forced more than 6,000 people to evacuate as lava raced across La Palma, part of the Spanish archipelago known as the Canary Islands.
Despite the eruption on the Canary island that has sent thousands fleeing, including some 500 tourists, Spain's tourism minister said visitors should stay and "enjoy what nature has brought us."
The Spanish islands saw a big increase last year of people trying to migrate to Europe by boat. After sheltering many of them in hotels, the authorities have set up camps and stepped up deportations.
