Mourners in black began gathering Tuesday for days of funerals and processions for Iran's late president, foreign minister and others killed in a helicopter crash.
Mohammad Mokhber worked in state-affiliated financial organizations before entering politics. He will lead the Iranian government until its presidential election, which must take place within 50 days.
Three National Guard soldiers and a Border Patrol agent were on board when a helicopter crashed near the Mexican border. A soldier was seriously injured.
"It is with a heavy heart and profound sadness that I share the loss of five outstanding Marines," their commander said in a statement. The names of the Marines were not immediately released.
Two U.S. Army Apache helicopters collided and crashed in Alaska while returning from a training flight, killing three soldiers and injuring a fourth. The cause of the crash was under investigation.
A missing Black Hawk carrying 10 crew members is believed to have crashed into the sea off a southern island after objects appearing to be aircraft parts were spotted in the area, an official said.
Daniel Wadham and Danny Randolph, members of the Tennessee National Guard, died in the crash in Madison County, Ala., on Wednesday. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
