56 years after his death, Martin Luther King's appeal for nonviolence applies to a war-torn world

Dexter Scott King, the younger son of Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott King, has died after battling prostate cancer. The King Center in Atlanta says the 62-year-old son of the civil rights leader died Monday at his California home after battling prostate cancer.

King's daughter says wars, gun violence, racism have pushed humanity to the brink

The Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.'s daughter says the world urgently needs to study and adopt her father's philosophy of nonviolence to avoid self-destruction. The Rev. Bernice King used an address Thursday to announce events for the upcoming holiday in honor of her father to warn that humanity was at a critical juncture.

Monument to Coretta Scott King dedicated in Atlanta

Atlanta has a new monument and garden celebrating and honoring the legacy of civil rights activist Coretta Scott King. The Coretta Scott King Peace and Meditation Garden and monument were dedicated on Thursday, which would have been her 96th birthday.

MLK weekend to feature tributes, commitments to race equity

The CEO of the King Center in Atlanta says she hopes to spur progress during this year's observances of Martin Luther King Jr. Day by helping more Americans personalize the struggle for racial equity and harmony.
