Tornadoes wreaked havoc Friday in the Midwest, causing a building to collapse with dozens of people inside and destroying and damaging hundreds of homes, many around Omaha, Neb.

Multiple tornadoes were reported in Nebraska but the most destructive storm moved from a largely rural area into suburbs northwest of Omaha. Hundreds of homes and other structures have been damaged.

Jake Gardner was on the West Coast when a grand jury indicted him last week for the May killing of James Scurlock in Omaha, Neb. Gardner died "at his own hand," his lawyers said Sunday.

Jake Gardner faces four charges, including manslaughter. While local officials initially ruled he had acted in self-defense, a special prosecutor said on Tuesday that new evidence suggested otherwise.
