Makyyla Holland reached a settlement over abuse she says she suffered in New York's Broome County Jail. The settlement requires the jail to adopt a policy that houses inmates based on gender identity.

Charles Givens, an inmate at the Marion Correctional Treatment Center, was allegedly beaten to death by prison officers in 2022. His sister filed a federal lawsuit against the officers in February.
