Cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was killed in 2021 when a prop gun went off on the western film Rust set. Alec Baldwin is charged with involuntary manslaughter and faces up to 18 months behind bars.
A grand jury in Santa Fe indicted Baldwin in January after prosecutors received a new analysis of a gun the actor pointed at cinematographer Halyna Hutchins during rehearsal for the film Rust.
The actor's lawyers argued that he had been charged under a previous version of a New Mexico firearm law. The change would reduce his prison time if convicted in the shooting death of Halyna Hutchins.
In an accident similar to Alec Baldwin's shooting of Halyna Hutchins, Lee's co-star fired a prop gun at the 28-year-old actor during filming of The Crow.
Baldwin on Friday sued people involved in handling and supplying the loaded gun that he was using when it fired, killing cinematographer Halyna Hutchins during a 2021 filming accident in New Mexico.
Investigators are still trying to determine how live ammunition ended up on the set of Rust. In October, Rust cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was killed by a prop gun armed with a live bullet.
