Turnout in the first three days of early voting approached presidential election level, with Black voters — who have become the recent focus in the race for governor — especially turning out in force.

Voters in Georgia, Texas and some other states are facing new hurdles to cast a ballot during the midterm election under laws passed by Republican-led legislatures following President Donald Trump's false claims that voter fraud cost him re-election in 2020. The restrictions have prompted groups that assist voters to reorient themselves so they can avoid running afoul of new barriers.

Wednesday on Political Rewind: A new report from Politico claims that Herschel Walker's team knew about the abortion allegation for months. But as his team hopes to recover, Walker is getting different responses from Georgia's top Republicans and nationally.

Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp sharply accelerated his fundraising over the summer, taking in $28.7 million in a three-month period. U.S. Sen. Raphael Warnock reported raising $26.3 million in the quarter ended Sept. 30. He’s now raised about $90 million for his reelection campaign.

Tuesday on Political Rewind: Herschel Walker's campaign is on the defensive. Walker's adult son Christian alleged that he threatened and abandoned his family for other women, amid a Daily Beast report that Walker paid for an abortion, in opposition to his anti-abortion stance.

The major party candidates running for Georgia’s top elected positions have become household names, but when voters enter their polling places next month, they will encounter some names that have not been blaring from their TV speakers or plastered across their social media feeds. Libertarian candidates could mix up the race by forcing a runoff, and they are hoping their presence will shift the political conversation in Georgia.

Patients left behind by the closure of Wellstar’s Atlanta Medical Center, many of them uninsured or underinsured, will need to go somewhere else for care. Nearby healthcare facilities aren’t ready for them.
