There is good news about a beloved tree that was cut down in September. Arborists in England say they're encouraged after seeds and cuttings show signs of successful propagation.
The famous tree in northern England is believed to have been around 200 years old. Efforts are under way to salvage it through regrowth or grafting — or starting over from a new seed.
Thousands see the tree each year as they walk along Hadrian's Wall, which guarded the Roman Empire's northwestern frontier. It appeared in Kevin Costner's 1991 film Robin Hood: Prince Of Thieves.
