Day 2 began with stormy weather causing the House to push their session to the afternoon while the Senate began at their normal time. Speaker of the House Jon Burns touted the accomplishments of the 2023 sessions while promoting his hopes for this year. House Democrats spent time on statistics of maternal mortality rates and a bi-partisan gun bill removing sales tax for gun safes was discussed.
