Free Classroom Resources To Celebrate Earth Month

Celebrate Earth Month with GPB Education! Throughout the month of April, individuals and organizations come together to celebrate our planet and inspire action to protect it. Most notable during this month is Earth Day on April 22, which was first celebrated in 1970.
Teachers can utilize this collection of Earth Month resources to help students better understand the world around them and the importance in preserving the natural world for current and future generations.
Let's Go Enviro
Grades: 9-12
Let’s Go Enviro is a digital video series that teaches environmental science through phenomena, project-based learning, and Georgia’s diverse ecosystems. The video library consists of six units. Units 1-5 include videos that invite students to become environmental stewards in their own communities, while Unit 6 introduces students to a wide range of careers in the industry. All videos are aligned to the Georgia Standards of Excellence for high school environmental science.
Georgia Water Virtual Learning Journey
Grades: 3-8
Developed in partnership with Metropolitan North Georgia Water Planning District, GPB's Georgia Water Virtual Learning Journey takes students on an interactive experience of all things water. Users will discover where our water comes from, how wastewater is treated, the impact of weather events on Georgia, how to conserve and protect water resources, explore a number of career opportunities in the water industry, and so much more.
Physical Features of Georgia Virtual Learning Journey
Grades: 3-8
The Physical Features of Georgia virtual field trip guides students through twelve of the state’s physical features: the Blue Ridge Mountains, Brasstown Bald, the monadnocks (Arabia, Panola, and Stone Mountains), Red Top Mountain, the Fall Line, Providence Canyon, Okefenokee Swamp, the Savannah and Chattahoochee Rivers, and the barrier islands.
Georgia Peanuts Virtual Learning Journey
Grades: 3-8
In this interactive virtual learning journey, students will explore the peanut industry, history and origins of the peanut plant, various ways peanuts are used, and how peanuts impact our economy. Additionally, students will learn about a number of career opportunities in the peanut industry. Key concepts are presented through text, images, videos, and interactive elements.
Georgia Forests I Virtual Learning Journey
Grades: 3-6
Take your students on an interactive journey through the working forests of Georgia to learn about forest ecosystems, food webs, and life cycles, as well as forestry management processes, career opportunities, and much more. Key concepts are presented through text, images, videos, 360º tours, and interactive elements.
Georgia Forests II Virtual Learning Journey
Grades: 9-12
In this interactive journey, middle and high school students will explore the forestry industry, operations and forest products, sustainability efforts, and recreation and wildlife supported by Georgia’s forests. Additionally, students will learn about a variety of career opportunities in the forestry industry. Key concepts are presented through text, images, videos, and interactive elements.
Okefenokee Swamp Live Exploration
Grades: 3-8
Discover one of the last frontiers of true Georgia wilderness with GPB’s live exploration of the Okefenokee Swamp. Witness the power of the mighty alligator, hear from swamp experts as they answer questions from the audience, and test your knowledge of the Okefenokee with this hour-long program.
Georgia Pollinators Live Exploration
Grades: 3-8
In collaboration with the University of Georgia, GPB Education live streamed from the State Botanical Garden of Georgia in Athens on May 9, 2023. During this program, explore the wonderful world of pollinators, hear from pollinator experts, and discover the importance of these creatures!
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle Live Exploration
Grades: 3-8
Help keep Georgia clean and green with GPB's live exploration: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle! The program offers students insight into the recycling process as they explore two types of recycling centers and see how one of the world's largest carpet manufacturers repurposes plastic bottles. Students will also learn how they can reduce, reuse, and properly recycle in order to protect the environment and reduce pollution.

Grades: 3-8
Continue the celebration of Earth Month by joining GPB Education for a live show on Georgia's forests. With Georgia's Forests Live Exploration, students will uncover the life cycle of a tree, investigate prescribed fires, discover the myriad of forestry products, and unearth what makes Georgia the #1 forestry state in the country.
