The MARTA Airport Station reopened for regular rail service on Mon., May 20 at 4 a.m. following a six-week closure for renovations.

The station underwent significant improvements including the installation of new terrazzo flooring on the concourse, new pavers and tactile strips on the platform, and repairs, sealing, and painting of track and concourse walls. Preparations were also made for the installation of a new canopy.

MARTA officials stated that the temporary closure allowed the work to be completed safely and reduced the overall construction time by 17 months.

The bus shuttle service between College Park Station and the North Terminal Lower Level ceased operations on Sun., May 19. Entrances to the Airport Station at the west end of the Domestic Terminal have reopened as usual.

“We thank you for your patience, support, and feedback to better improve travel for the busiest airport in the world, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport,” MARTA said in a statement.
