Milestones: Glynn Academy wins 600th football game

Glynn Academy became the 25th program in Georgia to win 600 games this week after it defeated Wayne County 16-10.
The Red Terrors, coached by Rocky Hildago since 2014, have been playing football since 1913. Glynn Academy is 82-40-1 with four region championships under Hidalgo.
The school won the Class 3A championship in 1964 under Harold Henderson. That team was 11-1 and beat Avondale in the title game.
The winningest coach was Charley Page, whose teams went 108-73-8 and won three region championships from 1944-61.
No. 150 for Ware County’s Strickland
Ware County coach Jason Strickland earned the 150th win of his career on Friday when the Gators defeated Appling County 40-10 in the season opener.
Strickland is in his sixth season at Ware County and has a 50-12 record with three region championships and the 2022 state title.
Stickland began his career as a head coach at Lamar County in 2008 and has made stops at Fitzgerald and Pierce County before landing at Ware County.
Sequoyah wins its 200th game
The Sequoyah Chiefs won the program’s 200th victory on Friday when they beat Denmark 38-35.
The Cherokee County program has been a model of stability with only three coaches since the school opened in 1990.
James Teter is in his 16th year and has gone 86-77 since taking the job in 2009. The winningest coach is Sid Maxwell, who went 97-67 from 1994-2008 and won the school’s lone region championship. Ronnie Jackson started the program and went 17-23 in three seasons.
