The Gordon Lee Trojans won their 400th football on Friday by beating LaFayette 28-23.

The Chickamauga program has been led since 2019 by Josh Groce, who has taken teams to the playoffs in three of the last four seasons. Gordon Lee went 10-2 and reached the second round of the playoffs in 2020.

The winningest coaches in program history are Charles Hixon, who went 53-61-1 in 11 seasons from 1986-96, and Greg Ellis, whose teams were 52-67 in 11 seasons from 199-2005 and 2015-18.

The program began in 1930 and has accumulated four region championships, the most recent in 1978.

Windsor Forest wins No. 200

The Windsor Forest Knights reached the 200-win level by beating Brantley County 20-8 in the season opener under first-year coach C.J. Frazier.

The Savannah program last reached the state playoffs in 2019 when the Knights went 6-5. That was the final year of five straight seasons the Knights reached the postseason.

The program began in 1967 under the legendary Earl Ethridge, who was the head coach until 1982 and compiled a 73-84-2record. Ethridge remains the school’s winningest coach.
