Helene has strengthened into a hurricane as forecasters warn of dangers from an intensifying storm that will impact the entire state.

Hurricane strength winds are now possible as far north as Macon. In north Georgia, officials are preparing for catastrophic flooding.

Impacts are expected to start Thursday night into Friday morning. Farmers are working to protect valuable cotton and peanut crops
