Please join the City of Atlanta Mayor's Office of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion for an inaugural International Day of the Girl Celebration at GPB. This event will focus on supporting and celebrating Atlanta's middle school, high school and early college girls as we Ignite Her Future!
Each student, as well as chaperones, must complete the event registration form no later than Monday, October 7.
10:30 a.m. - 12 p.m.
Ignite Her Future City of Atlanta's International Day of the Girl Celebration will be an in-person experience held on October 11 at Georgia Public Broadcasting. There will be several activations including an intergenerational panel conversation that will feature special guests. The panel will focus on topics such as self-confidence, career aspirations, overcoming obstacles, and the significance of community support in achieving one's goals. This celebration is an incredible opportunity for our students to engage in meaningful discussions and experiences that highlight the significance of International Day of the Girl.
This opportunity is available to middle and high school students who identify as girls.
International Day of the Girl is a global observance recognized by the United Nations on October 11, dedicated to highlighting and addressing the challenges girls face worldwide while promoting their empowerment and the fulfillment of their human rights. In Atlanta, we are committed to not only joining this global movement but also leading by example in fostering an environment where every girl can thrive. This day serves as an important reminder of our responsibility to support and uplift the young girls in our community
