LISTEN: On the state deadline of election certification, Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger says Georgia voters showed up at the polls on Election Day. GPB's Sarah Kallis reports.
All 159 Georgia counties certified the results of the 2024 election on Tuesday.
Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger said the election went smoothly at a news conference on Tuesday, and counties uploaded their results to the secretary of state's website quickly after polls closed.
He also said four counties, Floyd, Greene, Douglas, and Brantley, uploaded results by 7:01 p.m., one minute after most polls closed.
When all was said and done almost 5.3 million people voted in Georgia, Raffensperger said despite some issues at the polls people showed up.
“Citizen will not be fearful of coming out to vote," he said. "In spite of having over 60 bomb threats, people still voted. We will not be cowered."
Now that the counties have certified, Raffensperger will certify the results of the election, and then Gov. Brian Kemp will certify the slate of electors. The electors will meet to cast their ballots in December.
