Georgia's own Jimmy Carter served as the 39th president of the United States and the 76th governor of Georgia. He was born in Plains, Ga., on Oct. 1, 1924 and died at his home there Dec. 29, 2024.

Carter is being remembered across the globe as a statesman, humanitarian, peacemaker and a man of faith who loved his family.
