Fans invited to celebrate another milestone in minor league baseball’s return to Columbus
Primary Content
The effort to play minor league baseball in Columbus for the first time in 17 years will achieve another milestone Jan. 30 at Synovus Park.
Starting at 3 p.m., the Columbus Clingstones will host a beam-signing ceremony to give fans a chance to leave their mark on this $50 million construction project, scheduled to renovate the city’s baseball stadium previously named Golden Park in time for the Clingstones’ 2025 home opener April 15.
Diamond Baseball Holdings, which owns and operates 34 minor league baseball teams, including all the Braves affiliates, is moving their Double-A Braves team from Mississippi to Columbus.
At the beam-signing ceremony, fans will be treated to complimentary hot dogs and soft drinks and hear remarks from speakers including Clingstones General Manager Pete Laven and Columbus Mayor Skip Henderson.
Feb. 1, the Clingstones will host their first job fair, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., in the Columbus Marriott. They are seeking to fill more than 200 seasonal staff positions, including ushers, ticket takers, box office, promotions, security production, team store, grounds crew, bat boys, and food & beverage.
“We’re thrilled to offer fans the chance to be part of our new team in such personal ways, especially ahead of this inaugural season,” Laven said in a news release. “The beam-signing event will be a celebration of our community’s role in building the future of Clingstones baseball, while the job fair gives us the opportunity to have locals join us at Synovus Park all season long.”
The Clingstones plan to host additional hiring events in March for specialized roles, such as public-address announcer, anthem singer and mascot.
