Everybody Comes From Somewhere: What's Your Story?
Primary Content
Two months ago, we sent out a call for you, our supporters, to come to GPB studios and share your migration story in honor of the release of Great Migrations: A People on the Move. We wanted to know how you came to be a part of the Peach State. From that call, eleven people came forward to participate and provided amazing insight into their journey to Georgia as part of Everybody Comes From Somewhere.
Their travels, often inspired by an opportunity or need for change, illuminate the diverse tapestry of the human experience and the enduring quest to improve their quality of life. Whether they traveled from another state like New York or California or even came across the ocean from Nigeria, they all share the common thread of being Georgians and that is what matters most. We hope that these stories inspire you to preserve your own family histories, especially as globalization and increased migration reshape our world.
Special thanks goes to the following participants: Atiba Mbiwan, Camille Bascus, Iyabo Onipede, Jerry Bullock, Johnette Brooks, Lorrie Anne Matthews, Malcoma Brown-Ekeogu, Patrice Little, Philip Edward Wu Jr., Veronica Pemberton-Daniels, and Wanda Mosley.
Also thank you to GPB Audio Engineer Mark Davenport for co-producing this project.
