What student doesn’t love to doodle? The evidence of this fascination is obvious when students turn in papers; the drawings line the margins, filling corners and looping through letters. It’s time for all of these creative drawings to be put to use while giving students a chance to win scholarships at the same time!

Students in grades K-12 are invited to participate in the Doodle 4 Google 2015 contest. The idea is that students create a doodle that tells the world “What makes me…me” while incorporating the letters G-o-o-g-l-e into the drawing. For those that need inspiration, the Doodle 4 Google site includes some examples. Students are welcome to use all kinds of materials to create their doodles: crayons, clay, graphic design, foods, video games…

Students submit entries online between now and December 7. A panel of six judges, including Emmy-Award winning actress Julie Brown, Astronaut Yvonne Cagle, NBA Player Stephen Curry, Director Glen Keane, NWSL Player Alex Morgan, and Writer B.J. Novak, will select 53 state and territory winners, five national finalists, and one national winner.

The 53 state and territory winners will be featured in the Doodle 4 Google gallery and will receive an Android tablet and a t-shirt printed with their doodles on it. The five national finalists will receive a $5,000 college scholarship and a trip to Google headquarters in California.

One national winner will have his or her doodle featured on Google.com’s homepage for a day, receive a $30,000 college scholarship, a $50,000 Google for Education grant for his or her school, a trip to Google headquarters, a Chromebook and an Android tablet.

State award winners will be announced during the first week of February 2016. National Finalists and the National Winner will be announced at the end of March. Doodle 4 Google is a great way for students to transform those creative sketches on the sides of their papers to doodles featured on Google’s website and scholarships!
