(Mon 08/15)   Monday at 7pm “Lo Down Brown” takes to the Windham Performing Arts Stage as part of the Hopelands Gardens Summer Concert Series, presented by The City of Aiken Parks, Recreation & Tourism Department. Admission is free. Attendees are invited to bring lawn chairs, blankets and picnic dinners, but alcoholic beverages are strictly prohibited. (Fri 08/19)  This Friday evening , the entire family is invited to see “Aladdin” as part of the ”Movies on the Common” series at Augusta Common 836 Reynolds Street in Downtown Augusta. (Fri-Sat 08/19-20)  Augusta’s premier international film festival, “The Black Cat Picture Show”, is this weekend at Augusta’s Le Chat Noir. Following Friday’s screenings, there’s the Film Artists’ Reception and celebration. On Saturday, it’s the Wages of Cine festival pick. And Sunday wraps with the Awards Ceremony. (Sat 08/20)  This Saturday, Phinizy Swamp Nature Park invites you to be a part of National Honey Bee Day. From 10am ’til noon you and your family can enjoy honey tasting from local beekeepers, a honey based bake-off, face painting, live music and more. (Sat 8/20)   It’s day of international music, dance and cuisine at The Maxwell Theatre on Augusta University’s Summerville Campus.  This Saturday is “India Day”, presented by the Indo-American Cultural Association.  Everyone is welcome to attend.  The event starts at 4:30pm with food on The Maxwell Theatre Portico. (Sat 8/20)   The “Candlelight Wine & Dine” concert series continues at The Columbia County Library Amphitheatre, 7022 Evans Town Center Blvd, Saturday evening at 7:30. This week, Bethany & Balducci are scheduled to perform. Lawn chairs, blankets and picnic dinners are welcome. (Sat 08/20)  The Fort Gordon Glow Run 5k lights up the night Saturday at 8pm It’s a 5k event for people of all ages and athletic abilities. Runners and walkers are welcome for an evening filled with glow sticks, black lights, and music. Packet pickup is Friday from 3-6pm and Saturday from 5-8pm. (Tue 08/23)   The CSRA New Horizons Band is hosting a Meet-and-Greet for aspiring band members next Tuesday, August 23rd from 6-7pm at Aiken’s Etherredge Center. It’s the first fall semester meeting for this community concert band for adults of all ages and experience levels. (August 2016) Summertime is a wonderful time for reading—and here’s a chance to bring home great reads and support Augusta libraries. Throughout August, the Appleby Branch of the Augusta-Richmond County Library is having a book sale. The books are set up in The Appleby’s story hour room and there are selections for everyone.
