(Mon 10/03)  Some well-known writers gather on the Augusta University Campus this afternoon from 2:30 til 7:30, as The Sand Hills Writers Series hosts award-winning authors Crystal Wilkinson and Darnell Arnoult at the JSAC Coffee House for readings and an informal colloquia. (Tue 10/04)  Mistletoe State Park is hosting an evening canoe from 7 to 9 tonight. The launch point is the boat ramp on Mistletoe Road in Appling. (Thu 10/06)  The Morris Museum of Art presents the next in their "Mommy and Me” series. Thursday morning from 10 to 11, the theme is Autumn Is Here! Attendees are invited to stroll through the Southern Landscape Gallery and learn about the changing seasons. Afterwards, an opportunity to create your own autumn tree! (Thu 10/06)  This week in Augusta, a concert at The Jessye Norman Amphitheatre at 9th and Riverwalk downtown. Thursday afternoon at 5p, The Yonder Mountain String Band performs at an event billed as “The Riverwalk Revival”.  “Fruition”--a favorite from the Aiken Bluegrass festival--is also on the bill. (Fri 10/07)  Henry Fonda and Cliff Robertson are on screen Friday at the Morris Museum’s “Films on Friday” series. The 1964 film portrays politicians battling it out for their party’s nomination. Museum director Kevin Grogan leads a discussion immediately following the screening. You’re invited to bring your own lunch to this FREE event. It’s the Nearly Normal String Band performing old-time Appalachian and Folk music at Mistletoe State Park in Appling from 8 to 9pm. Viva and Neal Araki are set to provide entertainment for campers of all ages. (Fri 10/07)  This week in Augusta, there’s a celebration of Hispanic Culture. The 24th Hispanic Festival of Augusta is tomorrow from 6 to 11pm at the Augusta Common. The event features folkloric groups, musical groups, authentic food stands from several countries, arts and crafts, activities for children, and other attractions for the family. (Sun 10/09)  The new season of “Concerts with a Cause” begins with chamber musicians WindSync. The virtuosic group is described as “pushing the boundaries of wind quintet performance with youthful, pop-rock sensibility.” They perform at 3pm Sunday, October 9th, at Saint John United Methodist Church in downtown Augusta at 736 Greene Street.
