Calling all teachers! 

Join Kennesaw State University's Museum of History and Holocaust Education on Sunday, October 23, from 2-4 pm for the free opening of its newest hands-on, multimedia exhibition, Georgia Journeys: Legacies of World War II. Whether it’s Jane Tucker’s journey to work as a Rosie the Riveter in the Savannah shipyards, Guy Gunter’s service as a glider pilot on D-Day, Dr. Hillard Pouncy’s experiences as a Tuskegee Airman, or Norbert Friedman’s survival of 11 concentration camps, the Museum of History and Holocaust Education's Georgia Journeys follows the lives of World War II veterans, home front workers, and Holocaust survivors who came to call Georgia their home.    

Drawing on testimony obtained through the Museum of History and Holocaust Education's Legacy Series oral history project, this new exhibition follows the experiences of twelve individuals whose lives intersected in Georgia, but whose journeys took them across the world. The exhibition also provides a glimpse into President Franklin Delano Roosevelt's unique Georgia Journey that occurred between 1924 and his death in Warm Springs in 1945.

The Museum of History and Holocaust Education invites educators for a special free reception preceding its public opening (no reservations required). During this reception, teachers will have the opportunity to talk one-on-one with with several featured individuals and receive an introduction to Georgia Journeys and the updated Parallel Journeys: World War II and the Holocaust through the Eyes of Teens exhibitions. Additionally, visitors will receive priority status to reserve a free group tour or in-school program for Georgia Journeys through their attendance at the Educator Preview. They will also have the opportunity to preview new free field trip programs, in-school programs, teacher guides, and other resources (5th grade and above), developed to align with the Georgia Performance Standards to support classroom instruction.
