Join State Representative Valencia Stovall (D-Lake City) for the 2nd annual Educate Georgia Summit Wednesday, January 11, and Thursday, January 12, 2017 at the Georgia State Capitol during the 2017 legislative session of the Georgia General Assembly. Educators, parents, students, state officials, businesses, and community leaders are invited free of charge.
“Over the last few months, I have had the opportunity to hear from citizens from across the state on the top challenges with our education system,” said Rep. Stovall. “Whether at our House Education Committee Listening Sessions or at community town hall meetings, I heard time and time again that we have major cracks in our education system. We cannot wait for a plan to show up on the ballot in November. We have to help develop the plan, and change is going to take everyone coming together.”
This free summit will feature interactive working groups focused on building holistic early education environments; the proposed student based funding formula; best practices for improving failing schools; increasing parent, family and community engagement; and many more topics. Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in 12 working group sessions, connect with state officials, explore live exhibits, and participate in Lunch and Learns.
Attendees can register and learn more at www.educatega.com.

In January 2016, over 300 state officials, educators, parents, students, business and community leaders converged on Capitol Hill to attend this two-day education summit to dive into education policy. Last year’s summit featured keynote addresses from Governor Nathan Deal and State Superintendent Richard Woods.
